Coach Wager began his coaching career at Springfield College where he played as a wishbone running back. In 1992, after reading H.G. Bissinger’s book “Friday Night Lights”, Coach Wager moved to the great state of Texas to pursue a career as a high school football coach. In sixteen seasons at Martin, Coach Wager is the school’s all-time leader in victories. The Warriors have made sixteen consecutive playoff appearances, including nine trips to the regional round and a state quarterfinal appearance.

In the past sixteen years, Martin has promoted dozens and dozens of football players who have signed football scholarships. Coach Wager has been honored to present annually at coaching clinics across the country. In addition, Coach Wager has coached in nine Under Armour All-American Games.   

Now in his 26th year as a Head Football Coach in Texas, Coach Wager and his staff have compiled a record of 196-98. Coach Wager is proud to have mentored 9 of his former assistants who have become Head Football Coaches themselves. Coach Wager has been an Assistant Coach at Carter Junior High and Arlington Sam Houston, as well as the Head Football Coach and Athletic Director at Tolar, Groveton, and Kaufman High School.

Coach Wager resides in southwest Arlington with his wife Amy and children Gage and Mia.
