Dear Martin High School Warrior Football Fans:

The 2009 High School Football season has begun and so has the excitement of attending Martin Warrior Football games.  I am sure most of you would agree that there is nothing more exciting than Friday night football in Texas.  The crowded stands, the awesome music from the Warrior Band, the Sundancer’s routines, the cheers from our Warrior Cheerleaders, and of course, the play of our mighty Warriors battling their opponent on the field are all ingredients for a very enjoyable Friday night.   

Our Warriors are anxious and ready to continue the quest to make their fourth consecutive playoff appearance.  However, this year just getting there is not enough for our Warriors.  They have been working hard with the anticipation of making it deep into the 2009 Texas State playoff season.  The Vols, the Colts, the Texans, the Tigers, the Jaguars, and the Vikings may not believe this and they may LAUGH NOW but they will definitely CRY LATER!

This intense preparation started in the winter off-season and carried forward into the spring football season.  In May 2009, the 2nd annual MHS Rose Bowl was played at our MHS Stadium and our Warriors looked as if they were in mid-season form.  For many, the training and preparation continued into the summer by playing in several 7 on 7 tournaments and scrimmages.  Our Warriors could not wait to “strap it on” and start the 2009 Football season! 

The Warrior’s 2009 season officially kicked off again this year with our traditional Martin Warrior War Party.  I am proud to say that our wonderful friends and longtime Warrior Football sponsor SpringCreek Barbeque donated outstanding BBQ meals for everyone again this year!  As a special treat, our award winning Martin High School Cheerleaders, Warrior Band, and Sundancer Drill Team performed for us and all had outstanding performances!  Of course, there was the highly intense and emotion charged “watermelon smash” at this year’s War Party where our seniors christened their 2009 theme: ‘‘Laugh Now…Cry Later’’ by smashing watermelons painted and decorated in the school colors of our 2009 opponents. 
 
I would like to thank all of the devoted Warrior Moms, Dads and families that have worked tirelessly volunteering their help and support to the football program and to the Martin High School Football Booster Club.  A special Thank You to the 2009 Booster Club Board for your commitment, support, and for your enthusiasm.  I am very proud to be a member of a team that has such talented, hard working, and caring individuals. 

Last but certainly not least, I would like to thank all of those who support Warrior Football.  The coaches, players, booster club members, and myself deeply appreciate your support and interest in the Warrior Football program.  Your support is greatly appreciated!  This year especially, I want to extend a huge thank you to every Warrior Football sponsor for their support.  During these hard times, we appreciate every cent of your donations.
   
The 2009 Warrior Football Season promises to be another thrilling season and I look forward to seeing you on Friday nights as our boys fulfill their dreams of playing Texas 5A High School football!
